The Wire - The Quarterly Newsletter from Concert Networks - Autumn 2010 The Wire - The Quarterly Newsletter from Concert Networks - Autumn 2010
Welcome to the winter edition
of Concert's newsletter.

December saw quite a lot of snow didn't it! Even those nippy, foggy January mornings felt tropical compared to that. And then there was the flu... still, we're through it now and happy to bring you our first newsletter of 2011, jam-packed with news, deals, features and goodies.

Customer showcase is a new regular feature we're hoping you'll find informative; there's a fantastic article on fraud, plus we've had three new editions to the Concert family, one of which took us by surprise. Please read on, and a very belated happy new year to you!

Customer showcase

Premier Vintners has been a valued customer of Concert for the last four years, and we've definitely been occasional customers of theirs!

We initially provided our expertise in order to decipher the multitude of services and bills that Premier Vintners had accrued during their time as a customer of BT. This also resulted in some pretty decent savings. When a subsequent office relocation was put in jeopardy by BT Openreach we worked closely with them to ensure the business was quickly up and running. Over the years, we have worked together to achieve significant cost savings and ensure service levels remain high.

Premier Vintners are a team of international wine experts led by George Ledger who pride themselves on digging out the best value wines the world has to offer. They have a 'simple no nonsense approach' offering interesting and innovative wines across all price ranges. And according to top wine critics they do it very, very well indeed, uncovering some real gems over the years. They also offer wine portfolio investment advice.

We're proud to have them as our customers. So whether you're after a bottle of something special for a Valentine's dinner or building a cellar to rival La Gavroche, why not take a look yourself by going to www.premiervintners.co.uk.

Our team has expanded
(in more ways than one!)

Ian and Kath We are very pleased to welcome Kathy Kane and Ian Kilner who join Concert as part of the account management team. Kathy describes herself as 'a Scottish lass who tries her best at keeping fit, but has a particular passion for skiing and socialising with friends, especially when good food and wine are involved.' Ian says he is 'a terrible poker player who likes to dabble in the art of riding mountain bikes as recklessly as possible.'

One of them has a cat called 'Charlie Pink Panther', can
you guess which one? Answer and hopefully a photo in the next issue, meanwhile...

HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to internal account manager Louise Gresham, who has just given birth to a bouncing baby girl. She's called Madison and arrived rather sooner than anticipated. Poor Louise didn't even have a chance to finish work and put her feet up! We're sure you'll join us in wishing them all the best, and we look forward to welcoming Louise back soon. While Louise is away, Kathy will be managing her accounts.

Telephone fraud

hacking password Telephone fraud is on the rise. In a recent survey carried out one case of hacking resulted in a bill for £95,000.

From employees making unauthorised long distance calls, to unauthorised people gaining access to a Telephone System (PBX) in order to resell long distance service for profit - a PBX hack can cost businesses thousands of pounds.

By simply changing the default security settings on your PBX's you can seriously reduce the risk of hackers using your phone lines fraudulently. Concert's vigilance in this area proved invaluable, when one of Concert's customers were recently the victim of telephone fraud. Concert identified the problem and worked with the customer to stop the unauthorised access, saving them thousands of pounds. This incident happened on a Saturday and due to Concert's 24/7 support, we were able to promptly contact our customer and instruct them to temporarily disconnect their internet connection.

Concert's Hosted Telephony Solution is however the ultimate protection against fraud. With a centrally hosted and managed telephone solution, customers cannot be exposed to the risk of people hacking into their system, giving complete peace of mind.

For more information on how to protect your business against telephone fraud, please download our PBX fraud guide or call us on 0808 208 2400.

Wonderfully wild Wales

wild wales

Following on from an all day business planning session in November, the Concert team were whisked off to Wales for a surprise treat.

Sliding down rapids, abseiling a cliff face and plunging into icy ravines, it's just another day at the Concert offices! Yes... and in chilly November.

It was certainly bonding because we had to huddle for warmth! What a brilliant day! Our thanks go to our hosts at Adrenaline Antics, www.adrenalinantics.com. We'll be back!

As part of our ongoing commitment to customer care and to conform to recent OFCOM requirements, we have published a customer complaints code. If we get things wrong, we'd like you to be able to tell us about it, so we can put things right. Click here to view.
